Vacancies

Dear Prospective Applicant,

Fawcett School is a city Primary School with a village feel. It has a very positive ethos with a network of support systems. This is a recognised strength of our school. Our parents, pupils and staff work in collaboration for the benefit of the whole school community.

Currently we have approximately 180 children on role.

We have a part time nursery with a Lottery Funded

afternoon session to enable our youngest pupils to stay

with us all day. We have a breakfast club and an

after-school club. We are effectively open from

8a.m.-5.30p.m. and provide wrap-around care for our

            pupils and their parents.

Our pupils are generally very well behaved. They follow our agreed rules and demonstrate high levels of care and consideration for each other and those pupils from Granta Special School that share our building, our playtimes, assemblies and some of our lessons. This is a collaborative inclusion project between the two schools.

Fawcett School is at a very exciting stage of its development. As a result of the Southern Fringe Development we are due to more than double in size and become a two form entry school. We will be undertaking a refurbishment and new building programme within the next few years and we are enthusiastic about the prospects of shaping the future of education for all pupils in Trumpington. In the near future we anticipate that we will be working in partnership with another primary school and a secondary school built next to our site.

Currently we are embracing the opportunities to develop an exciting and creative primary curriculum. We have enjoyed the initial work we have done following a thematic approach to learning. Support staff will need to be committed to this way of working.

We are also in the process of developing our learning environments in order that pupils can become independent learners, achieving the highest standards in all that they do. Staff will need to be able to work within our agreed principles and practices for managing learning resources thus enabling our students to achieve the highest standards possible.

We have an excellent staff team and we are looking for people to join us who have the enthusiasm and drive to help us inspire our pupils and enable them to embrace the opportunities that the very best primary experience can give.

At present we have vacancies for part time and full time Teaching Assistants but if you opt for a part-time post we would prefer someone able to work part-time each day as we have found that this system works best for us and our pupils. The jobs available might place you anywhere across our school working with 3-11 year old learners and work might involve support of individuals or groups of pupils and encompass a variety of needs.

We will provide a full induction programme and there will be opportunities for you to learn alongside our experienced Teaching Assistants and to undertake training and qualifications. We are committed to the professional development of all our staff team.

If you are interested in joining us at this exciting point in our development and feel that you share our vision for education we would welcome your application on the form attached/enclosed. The current closing date is Thursday 2nd July. Because of the high interest in such posts at our school we are only able to notify successful applicants that we shortlist for interview. Interviews are planned to take place in the week beginning Monday 6th July.

Yours faithfully,
